Default Sick of REM 710 Talk

I'm buying a Remington rifle this weekend. I am not trying to save money on a purchase of this sort- yet I know how companies will have a high end product that truly does not give much in the way of improvements for the extra price. In other words styling, accuacy and crftmansshipgo hand in hand. Somewhere in the 600's.
why a Rem- all my relative in Utah shot them. I have their opinions- I'd like to hear more-
Also- I would like not to go blind after the shot- i also nee a good length scope with a top notch light ratio to zoom. Thx Ed

I'm not a fan. If you want one go for it. You may not ever know the difference if you never shoot anything else. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. No harm ment.

Do yourself a favor and simply ignore the 710/770 rifle- they are probably the cheapest, lowest-end rifle made today. Yes a Remington 700 costs 2x as much , but they are more than worth the extra expense- especially if you want to buy a rifle that will last more than a few hundred rounds and will be reliable. I've just heard way too many stories about the bolt stop breaking on the 710s after minimal usage. I've handled one at a shop and shot one and have seen a number of them shot- they are accurate, but poorly made.

If you want to buy a rifle with no frills that performs way betetr than its price suggests, take a look at a Stevens model 200. They cost about the same as a 710, but are infinitely better.

I think you misunderstood- I want nothing to do with a Rem 710- I'm looking for the complete deal in a Rem 700 bdl maybe- any suggestions?

Rem 700 SPS. Can get one in the mid-high 400's if you look hard and that leaves you a little for a decent scope.

Model 700-SPS. its the good ole' 700 without the extras. I've never had a problem with Bushnell Elite scopes. Like the 700-SPS, they're nothing fancy, but they work well, consistentlyand reliably

I agree on the model 700 sps.Pick up a Nikon Buckmasters scope for 175 and you're set.

there's a guy on gunbroker with a sps in 30-06w/ a simmons 8point for around 460$
