I just bought a remington 700 stainless and want to buy scope, mounts, and rings for it.
Which brand mounts & rings finish best matches the silver on the rifle itself ???
Black bases, black rings and black scope. You'll never find a perfect match with silver. Even if you buy all Leupold.... you can still see a major difference, and with silver you can tell that difference MUCH MUCH easier than you can with darker colors.
Ever left for the office wearing black slacks and a blue coat? I have!

Unless you buy real SS rings and bases and they probably won't match anyway. Only companies that make them are Talley,Conetrol, Gentry and S&K every one else uses plated chromemoly. Only company that makes rings and bases that match the rifle is Sako. Just buy matte blue rings and bases like SC suggested.

If you have a stainless rife, then buy a "stainless" scope and then "stainless" ringsand bases you will have three different colors of silver.
It looks much much better to have a stainless rifle and matching matte black bases, rings, and scope.

Basically, the reason is that the scope is aluminum, the rifle is stainless steel and usually the rings and bases are aluminum. That is part of the reason. In addition, you will struggle matching the grain of the finish. The same is true for black, green or whatever. It is less noticeable on darker colors. My SS rifle, with matte blue rings and bases and OD green scope looks good enough to me!

Originaly, I bought the stainlessrings and scope because i wanted the all stainless look as well. However, exactly like mentioned above, when i did get all stainless, not a single piece of stainless surface matched. It looked like a hodge-podge of color thrown on top of the rifle so I went back and got all black. I still kinda wish that i could get stainless all in one color, and if I could, i might would try it again, but the black on stainless on black ain't to shabby either
