im getting a .22 lr semi auto.....what is better remington 597 or marlin model 60?

I am getting a .22 lr semi auto because i just got some money. There is a semi auto remington 597 with scope at Dix for 160 dollars......first off is the remington 597 a good gun?
could i get a marlin model 60 for cheaper than this?

what gun is better marlin model 60 or remington 597???????

The Remington 597 IS A DEALEY Gun Get it it has a 10 shot detachable clip and the marlin has a tube magazine i would defentily go with the 597

I would go with a ruger 10/22 as you can customize it to whatever your heart desires,and a 10/22 is THE most reliable .22 semiauto on the market.

Not the ones I have owned. I have owned two rugers and two marlins, and have friends that have both as well. My experience has led me to believe the Marlins are better for the money if you just want to shoot them out of the box. Normally more accurate and work fine.

Now if you want to customize you simply can't go wrong with a ruger, you can do virtually anything to them.

Marlin 60 is finest shooting cheapest semi22 ever made. It will outshoot most $750 mall ninja rugers. If you want a tack driver, bolt action is the way to go(CZ).

I have 2 Model 60's and a 10/22. The Ruger is agoodgun. The 60 is also a good gun. The remington would make a good table leg. Don't like remingtons! Don't think you will get a good 10/22 for 160dollars. Mine is stainless withgreen laminated stock.Should be able to get a model 60.

I'd opt for a 10/22 long before either of those initially mentioned. SOOOO uch you can do with them. From those two asked about, I'd opt for the Marlin - either Model 60 or a Model 70 before I got the 597. I've not heard too much regarding the Remington but some of what I did hear wasn't all that fantastic. I have many 10//2's whcih have been built up and a single Marlin 70. That marlin as stock still will nearly outshoot the 10/22's .. The mirco-groove rifling really adds a bit of performnce i think. It shoots verrrry well.
