Default Suggestions on a New Pistol

I got an itch for a new pistol.. Always been a revolver type of guy.. And would like a 357 Mag with a 4" barrell and want to stay under 400.00.. But could be persuaded to go auto..

What are some of the better options for Autos around 400.00???

Just plan on using it for a carry gun in the car and an occastional day at the range..

What a coincidence - I'm wanting to sell a Taurus 627 in .357.

PM me, & I'll send you the details!

I was a revolver guy as well...Had a Ruger single action in .357...I was at the range one day (about 25 years ago) and a guy had a Ruger MK-II, I shot it a few times and loved it...Got me one in the 6 7/8 med heavy stainless...After I used it a while I realized that by not putting one in the chamber it might even be safer than a revolver and carring an extra clip made reloads faster...

About 10-12 years ago I took the class for concealed carry...The instructor was a deputy sheriff...One evening, I asked him his recommendation on a good defense handgun...He carried a Glock in .45...

I ended up with a Glock 23, which is a .40...It will cost you around $500, but I feel like it's a good choice...My brother carries a 38 hammerless snub...He thinks my Glock is a little large for CC, but, in this case, I'd rather have more than needed....

Stainless, not the Titanium. Handles & shoots like a dream. I'm downsizing to a .38 snubbie for carry.

The last 357 I bought was probably over 10 years ago. So I have no idea what the current price is. But if I were buying one it would have to be another S&W 686. I have a 4 inch 686, and it is the best in my book(except the Python). I am not sure what one would cost now. But whatever it is I would find a way to get one of them. I am sure there are some used ones out there if you take your time.

I can not think of any semi-auto's in that price range that even come close to the dependability and accuracy of the 686. I now carry a 329PD in 44 magnum. But I load the cartridge down to make the recoil more manageable in the ultra light pistol. Tom.
