Umm .... ive never shot a Browning A-Bolt but i have compared the Tikka to a Ruger M77 Hawkeye. I liked the Tikka better. It had a better trigger and was shorter and lighter. The only thing i didnt like about the Tikka is the plastic clip and trigger guard but they ahve rpoved to be very durable for me. I ended up buying a Tikka.

Tikka - two piece bolt.... Bolt body and dovetailed handle.
Browning - Something like 9 pieces

Tikka - One of he best adjustable triggers in a factory rifle
Browning - Very limited adjustability. You can replace a spring and that's about it.

Tikka - 1" group guarantee
Browning - No accuracy guarantee

Tikka - Stronger bridged receiver
Browning - Standard "cut away" receiver

Tikka - Sako extractor
Browning - Much smaller and weaker extractor built into the recoil lug

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Browning - Better synthetic stocks
Tikka - Cheaper plastic type synthetic stocks

Browning - Better recoil lug design
Tikka - Recoil lug is a completely seaperate part that is bedded into the stock

Browning - Metal bottom metal and magazine
Tikka - Polymer magazine and bottom metal..... er... uh... bottom plastic. [&:]

Browning - three lug bolt with shorter bolt lift
Tikka - Two lug design with a longer bolt throw

Browning - Different length receivers for different length cartridges
Tikka - One size fits all length receiver.

Browning is a more solid rifle with a good easily adjustable triggerfrom6#to3#(sorry bigbull), though I did swap springs to get it to 1 1/2lbs, better stock. IMO its the best hunting rifle for the money. The tikkas I have seen just felt and looked cheap, but they do shoot great, dare I say better than my a-bolt.

edit- If I had to over again check out CZ.

Here's another Tikka drawback... at least to some folks. Tikkas have a 2 position safety with no way to unload while keeping it off fire. It's big brother (Sako) has a release button allowing the bolt to be drawn back to unload while it's still on Safe. Better IMO. The Tikkas are very accurate but some (with the cheapo plastic stocks) kick pretty good depending on caliber.

I can tell you that the plastic Takka mags are very durable. Ive beat on mine as hard as i can to try to get it to fail. They do feel cheap but it is a great rifle. Its been through more then any other rifle ive owned. I took it bear hunting for 3 days. That is one of the roughest things you can do with a gun besides throw it off a mountain. It came out of the hunt like it was nothing. I would randomly try to fire a round to check the scope and to make sure the gun was working fine. It never misfired.

No but I have heard some interesting comments about both on other forums and just taking notes. It's slow and hunting season is over have to rile up everyone.

The A-bolt has the same type of safety and keep in mind that a T3 lite is made to weigh in at 6lbs 3oz. Any rifle that light will kick if you buy the right (or wrong ) chambering.

Personally I much prefer the T3 hunter over the lites.

I have a Tikka T3 Lite Stainless in 300 WSM. The recoil is comparable to my old Remington 710 in 30-06 and less then my Mossberg 835 with 3 in slugs or 3.5in Turkey loads.
