Default How old

Guys i have 2 guns i need to get when they were made. Both Winchester first is a 12 gauge pump but has a hammer. ( like the ones you see on a western ) and the other is a heavy Octogon barrel 44-40 lever action rifle. Is there any way to tell by serial # on the guns??? I know there are a lot of smart people on this matter on here thanks for the help...............

Yes. You can usually get on the websire of the gun maker and there would be achart of the ages of guns by serial number. If not im sure you could e-mail them and they could find out for you.

Marlin also made several models of exposed hammers shotguns, I believe the Model 24 and 26 were both hammer guns.
