Default New gun

I just ordered up my new Rem 700 Mountain Rifle LSS in 30/06 today. I have been shooting a 30/30 with a 4X32 scope.
Now all I have to do is pick a scope ?

That sounds like a great rifle and a good choice. I looked at some of those last week. There are so many choices now adays thats its hard to make a choice. I can,t afford all of them. I would like to try the 270 WSM. Or a new 280. I still have all my brass and bullets from the the last 280 which I sold to a friend of mine. I had a few to many rifles at the time and was getting burned out reloading for all of them.

Huntin Rookie,
Good cartridge selection! Very versatile! I'm reading between the lines here but I'm guessing you are asking for opinions about what scope. Since you've stepped up a notch in cartridge (at least in my book) you need a piece of glass to match.

Leupold! Assuming you are hunting under average conditions go for the Leupold 3 x 9 -- also versatile -- and they've even got one version priced reasonable! Don't forget.... Leupold!

Just my $.02! [Yeah, I've been waiting so long to say that!] <img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

Congratulations on your new rifle; I would go with a Pentax Lightseeker II 3X-9X-43. Good luck.

I also have been hunting with a fixed 4 power Redfield scope for years and I also just bought a new rifle this year. Go with the 3-9 power scope and as for brand, do your homework and ask alot of question as I did... The end result is the equipment is for you, not for your neigbors or your freinds....Have fun with your new rifle and new scope.

Rookie Hunter congrats on your new toy. Years ago I would have recommended a 3x9 &quot;Redfield Widefield&quot;. Since the original Redfield folded up and brought back by who know's who.I would suggest spending a little more and go with one of the Leupold's.I would stay away from the cheaper end of the scope market. Simmons, Tasco to name a couple.Been some negitive posts about the BSA line also.Buy good glass and it will pay off in the end.

I am looking at the Leupold VX-II, Weaver Grand Slam, Zeiss Conquest, B&L Elite and the Buris line. 2-7 or 3-9 with 33-40mm Objective. I want the best Optics I can afford. My budget says $250-325.00 on just the scope. The Zeiss is probably going to be out of my price range as is the Leupold VX-III.
I know Leupold stands behind there propduct.I have heard that the Grand Slam has better optics than the VX-II. I am trying to find a dealer that has some of these so I can see for my self.
