RE: New England Firearms Ultra Slug Hunter Deluxe
So are you saying when I sight my gun in with the SSTs that I should be a few inches low at 50 yards if I want to be dead on at 100?
Did you sight your gun in at 100 yards right from the git go? I am not sure mine was bore sighted very well, I barely hit paper at 50 yards. I'm sure I wouldnt have hit the broad side of a barn at 100. But I am close now, so I could start at 100 when I get the SSTs. I guess the answer to this question all depends on what distance I am going to be sighting my gun in for......
I was originally going to sight it in to be 0 at 100. But with this new info that I could be fairly accurate up to 200, I am not so sure that's what I want to do anymore.
By the way, I am in Toledo. I go to some wild game dinners up in Michigan (Mudjaw Bowman) every year.

Riner....
Sight in for 100 yards and then back track to see where your gun is at 50. If you have 200 yard shots available... site in for 100. You'll find 50 yards will still be a kill when you aim mid body on a white-tail. The 7- 9 inch kill zone should still eat up your slug at 50 yards...

when sighting in a shotgun you want to be some where around 2", 2.5" high at 50 yards. Shotgun slugs should be sighted in at 50 yards cause they need to be super sonic.

Hey Guys...
Here is a moose I took with my H&R Ultra Slug....At the time I was using lighfield slugs....
The shot was 110 yards in the lungs...the Newfoundland guide said it was the first Moose he had ever seen taken with a shotgun.

I have one in 12. All day I can shoot 1.5 inch goups at 100 yards with Remington Ultra Cor Lokt. Longest shot was 106 and she only went 3 feet and that was due to gravity. Love the gun.

I too have an H&R USHD only in a 12ga. It's a great shooting slug gun and I've got mine zeroed in at 100yds and I'm hitting about 3in low at 150yds. I'm using a slightly slower slug in the Winchester Platinum tips (1700fps) but they are about as deadly as a Sabot can be. The deer I hit drop in their tracks!
I've got it topped with a Nikon fixed 4x scope.
