The fire rating is very important. The weight of the safe is useful when comparing with other safes.
Get one larger than what you think you would need.

As said before buy the biggest safe [highest capacity] you can afford and also buy the safe with the highest fire rating .I have 2 Liberty safes I feel they are good for the price. chad

I love the liberty safe series. gander mnt. sells them but I found them cheaper through a local dealer. look around. but, imo you can't go wrongwith a liberty.

I have Liberty safes as well....can't complain. Very well made and versatilein how the interiors can be arranged. All for a pretty good price.

We sell Liberty and Browning. Browning gets my vote long before Liberty. They have better fire protection ratings, the door swings open 180* instead of just 90* like the Liberty. You can also get a duo plus interior(see pic below) which lets you store guns on the door thus increasing the safes gun capacity with out getting a larger safe.

One thing I found with the 2 safes I have is what they advertise for capacity and what you actually can place in the safe is 2 different things. I would also advise to check the rifle rest inside the safe. I find they are sometimes to shallow for a rifle with a 50 mm scope. The scope will touch the wall before the rifles will rest on the support unless you turn the rifle at an angle...

i noticed that some of the pics i saw had a 12/24 safe with it set as 12 with shelfs and it was loaded but the guns where to close to the one beside them and the one on the other side
i think a 12/24 set with 12 guns and shelf would do me for a long time

but i figure the two fun rifle i wont, then a shotgun for hunting,
a muzzleloader, aHD shotgun, a rifle for hunting outside indiana (ky and tn), a 22 rifle
Maybe another fun gun one day and another shotgun and ml which i know i will buy one day
thats 10 so i figure i will buy something around a 17+ that has some shelfs

i do like the fact the brownings have door racks for rifles pistols and ammo but there like 2000 plus

As time goes on you find you can always use another firearm and before you know it the safe is full...
