Default 10-22 to .17HMR conversion

What all has to be changed when you put a .17 HMR barrel on a 10-22. I know it has to be more than just the barrel. There is too much difference in pressures between the two rounds, to not have to change at least the spring. Appreciate any help on this.

The barrel, charging handle, and the return spring. The charging handle is a heck of a lot heavier to slow it down some. I bought mine from EABrowns and it works like a charm, I shot 250 rounds last week with no issue what so ever. [8D] http://www.eabco.com/hornady17hm2.html

You can't change a 10/22 to a 17HMR. You can change it to a 17 mach2. Change barrel and charging handle and spring is all that is needed to do so. Kits are available for $175 or less. Hope this helps?

Yeah, I thought he was talking about 17HM2, my bad, I don't want to see someone blowing their face off. The rifle I posted a pic of is the funnest rifle I have ever owned though. Now I just have to find a decent aftermarket 30 round magazine, because the Ramline I bought is total crap, wouldn't feed a round at all, plastic garbage.[&o]

you can take a 10/22 mag and change it over with just a barrel. to go from a 10/22 to a 17mach2 you need to change the charge handle and recoil spring as well as the barrel. i would also put in a new recoil buffer in at the same time just to help it out alittle.

Could you change a 10/22 chambered for .22 mag over to .17 HMR?

that conversion is as simple as changing the barrel. www.midwayusa.com is a good place to do business to get the barrel you will need. you may need to get a new stock as well.
