Default Need .25-06 ammo recommendations

Looking for recommendations on factory ammo for whitetails in .25-06. Gun is Sako 85 stainless, Zeiss Conquest, leupold QR mounts. Here's what I've tried, and the group sizes are to the right in parenthesis:

Hornady Custom 117 gr. BTSP (1.75")
Hornady Custom 115 gr. SST (1.5")
Federal Premium 120 gr. Nosler Partition (2.5-3.0")

This gun is guaranteed to produce MOA, so I'm not content with what I've got. Anyone have any experience with other factory loads?

In my Tikka T3 .25-06,I shoot Federal Premium 117 gr. Sierra Game King's & Federal Fusion 120 gr. Both loads group less than 1" @100 yards. I tried the same Hornady loads and got about the same results as you.

Federal 117gr Sierra GK BTSP
Federal 115gr Nosler Partition
Federal 110gr Nosler Accubond
Winchester 120gr PEP
Remington 120gr Core Lokt

Those should do the trick on deer if they shoot ok.

Find what works well in your rifle. The 117 grain Hornady custom works best in my rifle and shoots groups of about 1.25", sometimes better. Other loads shoot more poorly in my rifle. As I understand it, this is a tuning issue -- that is, every rifle will likely respond differently to the same load as each rifle has different resonant mechanical frequency.

The .25-06 is a great cartridge for deer and pronghorn.

120 gr. Fusions worked well in my Tikka.

You might want to call Beretta and ask them what ammo they shoot thru their rifles for the accuracy warranty. I can tell you that an SPS 25-06 while one of the worst made 700 I have owned shot groups half of what your getting with 100 grain corelockts. Loosen and then tighten your stock screws in an even manner as per owners manual. RUn a piece of typing paper down the barrel channel and make sure it doesn't hit anywhere until it butts up against the receiver. How well do you shoot other rifles you own?
