I picked up that new Marlin Cowboy the other day. I bought one box of the Hornady pointed bullet ammo. The Ballistic tips. Has anyone tried these for Big Game? I have not been to the range yet.
The leverlution bullets from Hornady are much better balisticlly than the blunt nose counterparts. I have been shooting them out of my 444 Marlin.. But have not taken a deer with them yet. Several people at our camp have and have had no complaints.
I have used the 45-70 LE ammo for deer with great results. After extensive field testing, these hold an 1.5" group at 100 yds. from a bench. These round make a great wound channel without destroying a lot of meat. These should work great in you Marlin CB.
