Ok, well I went and checked out my Winchester that has a pre 64 action to pick up on what you mentioned but I guess I would need both of them in front of me to see the difference.
I compared it to my Ruger and I find a big difference in fit and finish. They both are Mauser action ( correct ) and the Winchester just slide back and forth with allot less play. Night and day between the two.
Now what is the CRF ? Abbreviation for something?...

In 1964 the design was scrapped, and Winchester basically coppied the Rem 700, implemented lousy manufacturing processes and QC,Â*and slapped the model 70 name on it. People diddent like it one bit. Later on down the line, in the 90's they reintroduced a mauser-esque action and dubbed it the classic model 70.
Ok, so it was a different action resembling the 700. Now I"™m starting to see the light...

Trailer, dont ever give in to the temptation to sell that Winchester..it is money in the bank if it is a pre-64.
Well it"™s not an old model but it was advertised with the pre 64 action. It"™s the Model 70 Classic Featherweight chambered in the 300 WSM. It is however the earlier model because it doesn"™t have the Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad. I"™m just hoping I can handle the recoil without too much problem...

As for the Ruger , I purchased this rifle because it"™s chambered in the 350 R. M. Maybe I should have went with a Remington instead. Haven"™t even shot it yet and I"™m having problems with feeding the rounds from the magazine. Live and Learn...
