I like the Beretta's. I have owned the Beretta's, the Browning's, and the Ruger's. They seem to be a bit tighter, and IMO have a better feel.
If you are interested I know where there is an exceptionally nice Used Beretta 686. The wood is above average, and has no blemishes at all. The gun has been shot about 300 times. It is at a used gun shop in Fairmont, WV. IMO it can be purchased for a reasonable price. Tom.

I spent the last 8 months doing homework on Over Unders, and finally decided on the Citori as well. Seemed to be the most popular in the price range that you are looking into. I paid about 1500 for mine, and that was with the dealer giving me a military discount.
Best advice, is to get a list of the polular, known brands in the price range that you are looking for, and if possible go to a trap range and see if you might be able to shoot some of them. Otherwise, buy the one that fits you best, and go through a knowledgable gun shop, not some kid at the local gun super store that just rings up the sales.
The last thing I was told when I was in your shoes, it to buy a B-gun. Browning, Beretta, .....etc
Good luck to you

I'll go against the grain and recommend the Turkish Yildiz that Academy imports and sells for right around $400. Before I bought mine I used a buddy's Browning Citori and in my opinion the Turkish Yildiz is actually a better gun at about 25% of the price.
I think most of the people who are opposed to the Turkish guns are folks who have already spent a bunch of $ on a gun and feel the need to justify it and most have never held or shot one of the Turkish guns. My Yildiz is light, fits me very well, looks good, shoots good, and I don't have $1,500 tied up in a shotgun.
That's my 2 cents, I'm sure you will take it at face value.

I've heard opposite of you oldelk. I've heard alot of good things on the CZ line of shotguns. One of my pheasant hunters that has a few 20k plus side-by-side italian shotguns brought out a 28 gauge CZ (SxS) and he is pretty impressed with it.
