Default .22 rifle reccomendations

Hey guys its me mossbergman11. Im 15 with a limited budet. I have been looking recently for a good .22 long rifle that is good between 200 max maybe because all the .22 's i have seen have not been higher than that. If i get abolt action i want one with a magazine. semi autos are also fine with me. I JUST NEED ADVICE!!! Is a .22 capable of taking down coyotes?

IMO, .22LR is borderline or coyotes. You might want to move to .22 mag or .17hmr.

I personally like the Ruger 10/22 (which can be had for less than $200) or the Savage Mark II or 93. The Savage will be a little more than $200, but will be a nicer rifle all around.

I agree with Legion. The 10/22 is nice, butif you want hunt yotes go with the 22mag. The Savage 93fv has a bull barrel and the accu-trigger for about $250.

For the money that you are talking the Marlin in one of the model 60 variations would be great. It doesnt need any modifications and shoots great out of the box. The ruger 10/22 is nice, but is a better gun if you are wanting to modify it. A 22 will work on coyotes, but not at extended ranges. About 75 yards is tops and you may want to be ready for a quick follow up shot.

You can get a Marlin bolt in 22 Mag or 17 HMR for $199 about anywhere you go.

I agree it is hard to beat a Marlin and if you want it for coyotes the .22 mag is a lot better choice.

I would suggest the 10/22. This rifle will be accurate enough out of the box and can be accessorized to the gills. You can go from standard rifle to insane in just a few minutes usually without any smithing! As for the punch power, remember every rifle has its ownlimitations as do the hunters that use them. I hear of people using 10/22 rifles to hunt boar here in Florida. This once again tells us that shot placement is much more important than most any factor we are faced with. Yes this gun is more than capable of takingcoyotes but just remember youhave limitations, ex. energy at range....a .22mag would step it up for you but im not sure on the costs of mags to .22's. I know you can pass on that McDonalds value meal for the week, buy a box of .22 ammo and shoot for days+ its a Ruger...come on! lol my opinion though

I have a Winchester .22 mag. I think its a Winchester 270 model. Its a pump. Dont get one it jams round in it all the time. Other than that, it a pretty slick gun though

this might be a stupid question but what is a 17 HMR and what is the difference between .22 long rifles and 17 HMR's and .22 mags???????
So i probably shouldnt get a .22 lr for coyotes?
Would you reccommend a .22 mag or a 17 HMR??????
