LOL. So funny!

I really think Leupold is so over-rated.

They "may" be over rated to you, BUT i built a rifle about 1980 to crawl through the alders and swamps of SC Alaska (including Kodiak and it's neighboring islands) hunting brown bears... Istayed in the bush weeks at a time in all kinds of weather, living in a tent... Some days it would be very cold, snow, and then rain, and everything inbetween...

I bought a Leupold scope and put it on that rifle, and to this day it's still on it, working perfectly... I haven't even had to resight it in all these years of use and abuse... I've dropped brown bears, moose, caribou and all kinds of other big game with it,and it's "still" 100% reliable to this day...

Now, i have to say my Leupold isNOT over rated at all, knowing what it's been through over all of those years, the falls it's taken, and i've put my life on the line more than a few times, going into heavy cover tracking wounded bears with that rifle...

It's "track record" in reliability alone has made it a good deal, and it's not the only Leupold i own.

I've yet to have a Leupold let me down in the bush!

I didn't say they weren't good. Just over rated.

I've found better scopes for the money in my searches. Then again I don't spend weeks at a time in the bush unlessyou consider time spentwith my gf. I don't need a leupold for that.

From the Leupold Website.

Counterfeit Leupold Riflescope WarningLeupold® is issuing a customer alert to purchasers of products, particularly via Internet sales, in regard to bogus Leupold products that are apparently being illegally imported from the People"™s Republic of China. These products bear many of the marks and trade dress of current Leupold & Stevens riflescopes making them very hard to distinguish externally from authentic Leupold products.

In recent months, counterfeited Leupold Mark 4® riflescopes have begun to arrive with increasing regularity at the firm"™s Beaverton, Oregon, headquarters for service. These products are not manufactured by Leupold and are not covered by the Leupold Full Lifetime Guarantee.

Leupold employs serial number tracking for all its riflescopes, so if a customer finds a scope that is suspect, he or she can simply write down the serial number and call 1-800-LEUPOLD to confirm if it is indeed authentic.

In general, most of the scopes appear to originate from Hong Kong (People"™s Republic of China), and have "śLeupold Mark 4"ť laser engraved on the bottom of the turret in a silver etch, while the black ring on the objective is etched in white and does not include the name "śLeupold."ť The scopes also do not bear the Leupold medallion, a mark all Leupold scopes will always possess. An authentic Mark 4 riflescope will always be engraved black on black and have the name "śLeupold"ť engraved on the black ring.
