Default rifled slug gun or muzzle loader

OK i am in Indiana southwest area Sullivan 47882 i got my Mossberg 500 and planned to buy a rifled barrel for it but then though well just go with a slug gun not just the barrel the i thought well what about a muzzle loader

OK i plan t use my smooth bore for under 50 yards i will shoot out to 100 to 150 yards max closer to 100 plan to use a scope.

what are the pros and cons of a slug gun or muzzle loader or a pistol cal rifle as those are the only three in Indiana. whats the max distance cost per shot like whats the sabots cost and what it cost pr shot in a muzzle loader powder and bullet included

also Mossberg has a rifled barrel and a muzzle loader barrel that you just put on the 500 or should i just go with a complete

we get frm nov 17 to dec 2 for shotgun then the 8th of dec to jan first i think for muzzleloader should i go with a muzzleloader since i have a smoothbore and it would give me 1 1/2 months of gun seaon

When you say smoothbore shotgun, do you mean a 28" modified or a smoothbore slug barrel? I would take the ML over a smoothbore 28" unless it's a slug barrel. The ML will give you more accuracy at 50 yards than a smoothbore will but you will only have one shot. You need to tell us a little more about the shutgun you plan to use and how does the shotgun group at 50 yds?

I Hunt Indiana, I flip flop from a slug gun to a ML on alternatin years just for the variety. All in all I am happier with the ML in hand. I am confident on accurate shot placement out to 200(took a lot of practice) and it is very repeatable and hold wonderful groups compared to slugs. On a good day when I do my part, i shoot solid 1" groups at 100.

Default RE: rifled slug gun or muzzle loader

I BOUGHT A MOSSBERG 500 SMOOTHBORE WITH A 28 INCH BARREL modified improved and full chokes.

i plan to do one of two things buy a rifled slug barrel or a muzzleloader not sure which we get from around nov 17to dec 2 for moderen gun shot gun pistol or pistol cal rifle

then we get from dewc 8th to the 29 for muzzleloader only .
if i buy the muzzleloader i can use the smoothbore with modified choke and rifledslug for shotgun season and have a muzzleloader for muzzleloader seaon only whcih would give me from the 17th of nov to dec 29th total for both

so should i buy a slug gun slug barrel for the 500 or a muzzleloader or aa pistol cal rifle i have not pattern the 500 smoothbore yet but plan to
