I don't believe you should buy an O/U for slugs. In my opinion they are made for shot shells. If I'm not mistaken, when I bought my Citori, I was told not shoot slugs in it at all.

In your situation you should go buy a good pump action slug gun. You can pick up a good used Remington 870 or a Winchester 1300 12 guage for a reasononable amount and that's all you'll need. Of course there are several other types, these are just two of the more popular ones.

My other piece of advise, practice...practice...practice. Please don't grab the gun and any ole box of slugs and head to the woods. Spend some time on the range getting use to your gun and find out what rounds it "likes" and stick with them.

It would be tough to shoot slugs our of a o/u or sxs since you have no idea where the barrels POI is regulated to . If your going to shoot slugs buy a semiauto, pump or bolt shotgun.

For what you would spend on a decent O/U you could get a nice pump combo gun with a scope, maybe even for less. And it would work better for what you want.

If you had screw in chokes with the double I don't see why it wouldn't shoot slugs, from a safety standpoint. However I am almost sure the slugs will not have the same point of impact from barrel to barrel. So basically it would be a single shot. And you can get some darn nice single shot slug guns for around $200 bucks.

If you are looking at getting a decent a O/U you will probably spend between 5 and 6 hundred dollars. For that kind of money you could get a BPS pump gun with a fully rifled barrel. And for half that you could get a Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 combo.

My opinions anyway.

Paul
