Default 8mm Mauser

I've got a chance for a good deal on a 8mm K98 Mauser and im wondering about ammo. So from what i understand (which isn't much) the K98 takes 8mm (7.9x57). Now hornady lists a "7x57 Mauser". Is that a typo and they mean 7.9x57 or is it a different round?

Different round. 8 X 57 and 7 X 57 are both very good hunting rounds. Both are loaded by Hornady, Winchester, Federal, and Remington, to name only some of the manufacturers that carry it. Most factory loadings are very much in the safe range of pressures out of fear that some older, tired military weapons exist out there.
Either round in a modern firearm can be loaded to very nice hunting rounds with a variety of purposes.
