My buddy is trying to sell me a 454 Casull revolver. I had never heard of it, what is your opinoin on this caliber? I would prob put a scope on it and hunt whitetails.
If you're not used to handguns with more oomph than the .357, well, ok the .44 mag, don't bother with the .454.If you'd never heard of it until now, chances are you don't really have a real need for such a chambering.
The .454 casull is my all time favorite revolver cartridge. It will only be found in good quality revolvers(factory),is usually VERY accurate, and has about twice the "power" of a .44 mag. A really nice thing about it is that you can safely fire .45Lc cartridges for practice or even the hot .45Lc loads,as well as all .454 casull. If you don't buy it,lemme know and I might.

Not that I really "want" it. He owes me money, and offeredme a couple guns since he has no cash. I just thought it would be cool to hunt deer with a pistol (I usually only bowhunt). If I get it and decide that I dont need it, I'll hit you up.BTW, Its a Ragin Bull by Taurus.

I have a Taurus Raging Bull in .454 and I love it. The thing is, the recoil with factory loads will be tough as well as expensive. Get into reloading if you plan to shoot it much. Reloading is a good thing to get into anyway, you can load a far better cartridge than you can buy. I load mine down quite a way past the maximum charges. I suffer some velocity but I gain in accuracy and less recoil. It is a good round.Take the gun, youwill not regret it.
