Default What's wrong with the Remington 710?

I get bits and pieces from around that the 710 is junk.
Specifically . . . WHY?
There's a .243 for sale locally and I don't want to get burned.

the remington reciever is lined with plastic, which will wear out very quickly. The bolt has to lock lugs into barrel due to this so exact proper headspace is hard to keep consistant. the barrels were rifled apparently by drunk monkeys. Did I mention it has PLASTIC lined action instead of STEEL?

WOW! I've seen pellet guns built better than that!

Thanks all. I won't even go look at it. Might be worth it for the Burris scope though. But then what do you do with a 22" door stop?

The pressed in barrel is reason enough for me to never own one.

Hey, now, lets lay off the Geo cracks. I used to drive a Geo Metro, then got a Neon and now drive a Sebring Coupe.

My Geo got almost 50 miles to the gallon if I drove it nice, I got a new set of tires for it for 80 bucks, not one tire all FOUR! And you could do a tune up in a parking lot for 20 bucks. And it ran great, did good in the snow and was fairly peppy for a 3 cyl 50 horsepower car. My buddies Ford Aspire was a slightly nicer car though.

Now my Sebring Coupe is a much nicer car, leather interior, power everything, air, premium sound system, you name it. Pretty, fun to drive (3.0 with a 5 speed manual) and handles pretty good for a sport/luxury car. However it gets about 25 miles to the gallon, I just got tires yesterday and it was over 500 dollars (for cheap ones!!) for four. And a tune up cost about $300 because you have to take the top half of the motor apart just to get to three of the spark plugs[:@]. You could save money and do it yourself if you knew what you were doing, had a garage, decent tools and the gaskets. However you are not going to do it with a spark plug wrench and some simple hand tools.

With gas being over 3 bucks a gallon and me being laid off I would be pretty darn happy to have that little Geo back. So lets not knock them ok, if you want to pick at something use that POS Yugo as an example.

That being said the 710 is pretty crappy and you could for sure spend your money better on something else like a savage or setevens.

I'm just messin with ya about the Geo thing. I really do sort of miss mine sometimes though.

Paul
