RE: Flushing an action with carb cleaner?
After 30 years I would pony up the money and take it somewhere to have it cleaned and looked over. Probably cost less than 100 bucks to have it done right.
I own an A-5 which I am not about to tear into either. I ask the gun smith about it when I got it and he said not to worry about it. Just keep it relatively clean and bring it in every 5 to 10 years and have it looked at. Unless I drop it in muddy salt water or something or it starts not working right. I think he said they charge like $70 bucks to go through them and clean everything up. That is like 7 bucks a year when you add it up. Not a bad deal really.
