Default Stevens/Browning Model 620 12 ga.?

My dad has a Stevens/Browning Model 620 12 gauge that he doesn't use because the gun doesn't come up well. It seems that the rear stock is too flat.

My question is, value wise, is the gun worth modifying or better off trading it on a different shot gun? It is a very old gun (belonged to his father) and I don't know much about it.

Thanks!

When you say "stevens/browning",I assume you mean savage's A5 copy. Check blue book but I think your shotgun won't have so much value as to prevent modifing.
