Default 25-06 vs 270

I am looking at buying a new rifle. What are your opinions on the 25-06 versus the 270.

Depends on what you are going to be shooting at.

In real world performance, I don't feel there's a real difference between them for 99% of the things you'd ever use one for. The 270's do seem to have a greater resale value, so that may be something to consider.

.270 would be my pick. YOu can usually get ammo anywhere and in a pinch this is important to me.

Hard to say I have a .270 right now but I am thinking about getting a 25-06 next.

I have a .270. I just purchased a .25-06. The .25-06 will be good for anything up to deer sized game.

Toss a coin. We have both and they will both do about the same. I know the .25-06 is known to be a very accurate caliber. Our's is a Ruger #1 and it will put 3 shots touching one another at 100 yards.

270 = redneck deer slayer
25-06 = elegant and refined gentleman hunter's deer slaying arsenal!
