I own a glock 22. Love that gun. I also have 2 smith and wesson .38, smith and wesson .357. I carry the 22 when i am working and the five shot .38 when i am off duty. If you are looking for personal protection go with the .38 or the baby glock in 40 cal.

That's what the officers in the city here carry, the glock 22. my buddy from work carries a glock 23, and my new supervisor is in love with Glocks. I always kinda liked them, never thought about buying one until now though. Thanks guys.
Glocks are great little pistols. And there is nothing wrong with the polymer frames. I bet you'd be hard pressed to find a Glock owner that had ever had the grip-frame fail through anything but intential misuse.
But if you like the way a Glock functions (the Safe-Action system), you might also consider the Springfield XD. I had a Glock 21, which I liked in every respect except the gap between tip of the trigger and the trigger guard was just the right size to pinch my finger during recoil once in awhile. That hurt like a SOB. Also, I needed a pistol that would fit my wife's hands better and that she could control better (.45ACP is a bit much for her). I have always loved the Safe-Action system, so when I went looking for a pistol I natuarally gravitated to the XD. I traded the Glock 21 for my XD 9 and have never looked back. I like the grip angle better, and the grip is narrower which makes the pistol fit and point better, and the trigger is even smoother than the Glock (and mine had the "target" trigger spring in it). Overall the quality if as good as the Glock, and the pistol is accurate and totally reliable. When I got mine Springfield was running a special where it came with an extra high-cap magazine (three total, 16 rounds each) and a belt holster for less than a comparable Glock 19. Overall, I'm highly impressed with it and do not regret trading off the Glock 21.

I wish I had pics of mine right now.
I love Glocks and the G23 is my favorite, but...
I spent time modifying the frame to better fit my hand.
Besides the $.02 trigger job, I dremmeled the frame (especially around the finger grooves) and stippled with a soldering iron.
It's now perfect for me and made all the difference in the world.
Great pistols!
