Walmart .. Good deal

I had a buddy just call and ask my opinion about a win 70 syn/blue package with the scope, I think wincheser give a simmons.. The gun is in 223 wssm. He wanted to use it for deer, I told him it will work but not ideal for our area so he is looking elsewhere for another caliber
My question is ..walmart wants $350 for it and that seems cheap not a slamming deal but good, I really don't need one as I have a 220 swift but I hate to pass up a deal

.. Is is a deal I shouldn't pass?

You might wanna check your state laws, here in VA you must have a .23 caliber or higher for deer.... dont know if this helps at all.

Not that 22 cal would be my choice any centerfire is legal in pa..
I called wallyworld and it seems it is the super shadow crpf and $350 is a better deal than I thought, The wife is picking it up for me tomorrow

The wssm cartrdiges are waining. Companies seem to be dropping the chamberings from thier catalog. Ammo will be available but not one you'll walk into any shop and find. Unless you're to reload for it, I'd definately find something ina different chambering.

Certain WSSM are failing. The .223 is one of them. Some of the others have really caught on.

yep...they seem to be giving the 223 wssm rifles AND ammo away...walmart had the winchester ballistic tips onsale for 9 or 11$ for the LONGEST time...(till they sold them out lol) if i reloaded, that would probably been my varmint rifle of choice when i bought mine this summer...

good luck with it!! i know a buddy with a rifle in that caliber...its his long range varmint rig...he says he likes it..other than not being able to buy ammo over the counter

Unless the gun really strikes you, I would pass. Recent winchesters I have had experience with were not been of the expected quality.

I look on the net and see them for sale at $500+ not sure if anybody is buying them, I am aware that some of the short mags are not making it (I have a 300 and 325 wsm) and I don't hear much about the 223 wssm but how can you go wrong with a new scoped gun for $350 .. If the shells are selling cheap I can stock up on enough brass for a lifetime as i do reload..I will ask to see if they can get more in other calibers.. I am off to ny today for opening day .. Bill
