Please note, I am only talking about my 11-87. Not all 11-87s
This is an 11-87 with a 1 x 4 Leupold Scope
To make a long story short, my 11-87 has always shot Lightfield slugs good at 50 yards and within 4 inches of the bull at 100 yards. I tried a couple different brand of slugs out of it this year to see if that changed things. I shot Hornady SST and Winchester Partition Gold. Neither shot well. The Winchesters held a soccerball grouping at 50 and 100 yards. The SST slugs shot good at 50 yards but were missing by miles at 100. Some of them mised the entire board behind the paper. I shot them on multiple days too.
I went back to the Lightfields but I still think I should be able to get better groupings with them at 100 yards. They are always within 4 inches of the bull but with no pattern - dead on, high, low, left, right, etc. And I was surprised the other slugs did not shoot well given the reports from others with the same gun. Ihave been shooting a lot the past few months and I know it is not me.
I am thinking something is not right with the barrel. It does not show up until 100 yards and the faster the slug you shoot, the more it throws it off.The gun is shooting plenty good enough with Lightfields to take deer but I still think it should be tighter at 100 yards. Any why not the other slugs?
