Default Remington Model 770, i am thoroughly impressed!

Well, i received this rifle as a gift from my grandfather (he won it at a hunters day raffle). As many of you know, the model 710 failedhorribly andRemingtonanswered back with the model770. Thisfirearm is blowing me away for the cost. I was a bit weary of the cheapscope thatit cameequiped with but it has given me a surprise. The first2 shots were both 10 inches (not surprsied) right so i adjusted 40 clicks left. I then shot about a 1.5 inch group 2 inches off of my midline and perfectly situated on the "x" plane of my target. Ithen adjusted 8 clicks right and what do you know...i'm shooting a 1.5 inch group directly onthe bulls-eye. I was shooting 150 grain Remington Ammuntionthat i found on sale $21 dollars a box at Wal*Mart. AWESOME PRICE! The local outdoors store had the same for $35 a box. Thefloating bolt of this rifle is alsovery nice, it locks directly into the barrel. The recoil from this gun was nothing extreme, but nothing light either. Itis settled in the "happy medium" range and i can deal with that, free standing shots are a breeze. I am extremely impressed with the performace of this thing!!For $375 you CAN NOT go wrong.

Judging by the price of the ammo, I'm guessing 7mm Rem. Mag.

I belive he said it was a 7mm Mag before. Sounds like a decent rifle though. I just bought a Tikka in 300 WSM. Im getting around 1in groups with it. Ammo is a little more expensive and harder to find.

Sounds like it will be a very nice bargain hunter's rifle. I haven't even seen one here in Houston, yet. All the stores around here must still be selling out their stocks of Model 710's...

I still can't figure out why they call the traps "Live Traps". All the Racoon and Possum that I catch in mine never come out that way.

A lot...people said that theirs cracked after a few hundred rounds [:@]. If anyone has questions about the gun you can ask here and i'd be glad to answer.
