Default Mossberg 935-Waterfowl-Tukey

Hey guys I'm new to the forum and have question about my Mossberg 935. It seems I purchased the waterfowl version ('28 barrell) and I'm trying to get into turkey hunting with this gun. Will this be a big problem? I mean there is a '6 difference in barrell lenght, but that is essentially it. Any info would be great.

A little longer barrel is not going to be much of a liability when turkey hunting. I use a 28" barrel myself. You'll get a little more velocity, and unless you use a scope, a longer barrel will give you a longer, more accurate sighting plane. If you look at the competitors in the still target turkey shoots they are all shooting long barrels.

I used a Mossberg 835 with the 28in barrel for years. I have shot many turkey, deer, and other various animals with it. It worked well for me. It had to have over 10,000 rounds through it. That gun was stolen so i had to find a new gun. I now have a Mossberg 835 Turkey gun. I got it used for a great price. It has a 24in barrel and is camo with synthetic a stock. Thats the only difference in the gun. I just hope i get to feel the same about this gun as i did my last one.

My 835 had a 24" inch barrel which was their Thumbhole Turkey Series, but now I shoot a Benelli with a 26" barrel. I find it easier to stay on target for some weird reason with a longer barrel. Maybe it's just me.

Hey thanks guys. I practically bought the gun because I liked the way it looked. You know just a kid in a candy store. I was pretty sure that it wouldnt matter too much but just noticed that most guns specified for 'turkey' had a shorter barrell.

i love my mossberg 835 ultimag. it has the long barrel and i have shot numerous turkey's and deer. the longer the barrel the better it patterns at longer ranges.
