Default 7 X 72R ??

Does anybody out there have any clues as to where to obtain/find ammo for this old and obsolete round. My dad has an old Drillings combo gun with side by side 16 gauge bores over a 7 X 72R rifled barrel. He has only about 3 shells and we were going to put a few rounds through it. It is in excellent shape but has been previously fired so would not be spoiled by a few rounds. any help would be appreciated. I have already asked this on shooters.com and a few other sites. Any suggestions?

They are a great source, but, ALAS, .. I had already tried them......
I'll probably only find individual shells from a collector....and that will be to expensive for me. I think we should sell the gun.

How old of a gun is it.
Old 16ga. guns used a shell that was 2 9/16" long and they can be hard to find also.(usually guns made in the early 1900's)

The right people pay very well good for drillings.

Good luck

Can cases be made from necked-down 9.3X72R brass? I think this case is still available.

Keep yore powder dry!!

aunsaber,
I'm not sure of the age of this particular drilling's . We may very well dump it (as yo say to the right buyer) since it appears to be such an oddball. I have finally located the brass @ 31.98 per 20 = shipping and tax. The DIES are over $90.00! We'll have to think this one over
eldeguello,
My dad has 2 drillings in 16 gauge, and the other one's rifle is in 9.3 X 74R rather than the 9.3 X 72R. We'll probably keep that one and shop for a buyer for the 7 X 72R oddball. Thanks for the reply about the brass reforming. That may make sense. I'll check it out.
