It depends on the end-use, what are you going to be useing it for? If you are just wanting to plink a semi will surfice, if you are wanting an accurate hunting rifle a bolt action will be good, if you are wanting a tac-driver, a heavy barrel single shot will do the trick!

A lever action Marlin model 39. It is a lot of fun to shoot and they are accurate.

I agree. I chose bolt action on the poll because I could only pick one.

I voted semi-auto based off of they are fun to shoot. However, as previously mentioned - it depends on the purpose. Single shot / bolt action for accuracy, semi-auto for everything else.

i mainly want a cheap reliable tree rat/bunny/crow killer. i like the looks of the bolts ot walmart, can never remember if they are marlins or savages, but there around $150 so if i can save i can get one, next time i go ill check, and let you know. right now im depending on my 870 as an all around gun, which it is, but i hate shooting squirrels at 10yds with a 20ga. i mean it really tears em up, id use .410, but what if i get a long shot? .22 gives the best of both worlds.

I like a bolt action and they don't jam a quarter as much as half the semi's do..
