Picatinny bases

Are the Picatinny and Weaver mounts and bases interchangable? I purchased a rifle that came with a Picatinny base already installed. I have several Warne rings that are for Weaver bases. Will they work on the Picatinny base, or do I need to use Picatinny rings as well?

There's a bit of difference between the two but they are basically interchangable.
