Default .243 Handi rifle

I just purchased a .243 Handirifle.

I heard on some forum where guys are putting a rubber washer between the forearm and barrel to not only "float" the barrel, but to also help remove some vibration.

Have any of you done this and if so....how think of a rubber washer did you use??

The rubber washer I used is for plumbing. They use them in faucets. Go to any hardware store.

As for ammo... I handload so that's gonna be my response almost every time.

Thanks Peeker...

How thick of a washer should be used??? I got one that was 1/8" thick, but now the forearm screw is too short. Do you need to recess the forearm a tad more???

I used the thickest one I could fit (sorry, didn't measure it) and not compress it very much when installed. I figure it like this, if it is compressed alot it won't absorb as much vibration.

Use a rubber O ring, not a washer. It seams like about 1/2 inch inside ,easurment. I have reallly never found that it helped mush but its worth a try. Most Handi rifle shoot the lighter bullets per caliber best. I have had good luck with the NEF rifles EXCEPT for the 243. Both of the ones I had were always getting the casings stuck and i had to carry a rod to knock them out with. They work best with rimmed casings like the 30-30, 44 Mag, 357 Mag 22 Hornet and 45-70.
Go to the NEF forum There you will find out everything you will ever need to know . www.go2gbo.com/forums/index.php?board=126. Great bunch of guys too.

My HR .243 would only group with Winchester Supremes. Try those first.
