Default savage or tikka

I have my choice narrowed down to a 2003 savage with the new accutrigger or a tikka whitetail hunter. Any opinions on these two rifles??

I would go with the tikka.

Tikka. They're price is still attractive, and they're darn good rifles.

As a Savage shooter I wouldn't have anything else in a bolt-action. I have looked at a Tikka and I wasn't at all impressed.

Well, so much for it being unanimous!

I have both a Savage and a Tikka. The Savage is a 22-250 and the Tikka is 243. The Tikka is by far a better rifle for the money. Out of the box it is the most accurate gun I own.

Savage rifles are well known for their out-of-the-box accuracy, a friend of mine bought a Tikka in .308 I wasn't at all impressed. But I can't comment on the accuracy, he hasn't had it out to the range yet.

I certainly hope that Savage has learned to make a decent product,.....The last one I messed with is about six years ago and it was a piece of junk.....accurate???/damn right.....but it was a single shot!!!...Hey a buddy bought it because he wanted a left hand .223 for prairie dogs.....and it's a great gun for him.....thank goodness that a single shot without a safety was acceptable for his needs.....

I've detested the name Savage for over forty years and the only name that has more detest here is EMF!!!!!
