Installing sling swivels
Hi all,
I've decided to put a sling on my Mossberg. Today I picked up some Uncle Mike's QD magazine cap swivels. I put the one on the magazine cap fine, but now I need to put on the rear swivel. To do this, I have to drill a hole into the stock. My question is this: where is the proper place to attach it? If you guys have slings on your shotguns and could get me some measurements on where your swivels are I'd really appreciate it. My other guns are back home in MD, so I can't go by locations for those. I guess I'm looking for a measurement from the butt of the stock to the swivel. Any help is greatly appreciated.

RE: Installing sling swivels
Drill your hole 4" up the stock from the butplate, if you dont have a drill bit for for installing them you can use a bit the same diameter as the swivel to start the hole, apprx. 1/16 deep, this will keep you from splintering the opening when you start the swivel, then drill the hole with a 5/32 drill to correct depth. When installing the swivel use either wax or soap on the threads to aid the install.
