Default 22 Mag, which one?

Can anyone offer comments on buying a 22 mag.? I want an simple, relatively inexpensive knock around that I can carry on my atv on in the back of my buggy in case i run into a coyote or other predator. I know the caliber is light, but certain times of the yr I am not permitted to carry a larger caliber gun on my lease, but a 22 or in this case, a 22 mag is ok. That should be powerful enough for a coyote and such. However, I don't know about brands, features or quality for the mag series. When series for a 22 long, I learned the 10/22 by ruger was a good choice, so that's what i got. Now i need advice the on the big brother.

I have remington 597 and it does a great job for what it is.I am pretty sure ruger stopped making the .22wmr,but there might be some used ones around.I put a nikon prostaff 3X9X40 on mine and it will shoot as good as any auto

I reccomend the Remington 597 as well. The model with a synthetic stock should meet your needs well. I have one in 17HMR with a laminate stock, she's a shooter......

Here's another vote for the Rem. 597M... Mine is accurate and reliable, so i have no complaints.
