Default Please help me purchase my first rifle.

I'm looking at getting a Remington 700 SPS .223 for my first rifle. Does anyone have any other recommendation for a first rifle?

Can anyone explain to me why the price difference in these guns?
700 SPS $459
700 ADL $314

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

The SPS replaced the ADL so any ADL's are left overs Both are great guns. The SPS rifles all have 24 inch or longer barrel. I have a SPS 223. Great rifle. If you intend to use it for deer then look at the SPS in 7mm-08 still low recoil but much better for deer.

I'm looking for just accurate target shooting with relative cheap, but fun ammo.
Do you know if there is any major differences between those two guns to warrant the more expensive purchase?

As James B. said the 700sps is replacing the 700adl. The 700adl has a blind box magazine while the 700sps has a DM or hinged floor plate. That is what the different. The 223 would do just fine for target and varmint.
