IMO it is the most accurate slug gun for the money (bar say a crazy Tar Hunt or Abolt but maybe not).
With the right ammo it is more, "How far can you shoot?".
Me I'll go 150. You might find a guy shooting some high speed stuff 200(?). But the factof the matter is when I'm afield I'm absolutely comfy going 100-150. But no 150 if the wind is up.
I bought a H&R ultra 20 ga a few months ago and I consider it one of the best gun buys I have ever made. Evertime I go to the range with it I am simply amazed at how accurate it is. I never thought I would be able to shoot a 5 shot one hole group at 50 yards with a slug gun but I have done so with this one. A two inch groupat100 yards is common. I use CCS sabots with 300 grain HP/XTP 45 cal slugs which I load myself. The Ultra is a very heavy gun which helps hold the felt recoil down, however if I did a lot of still hunting I would probalby want a lighter gun. I hunt from a tree stand so weight is not a factor with me. If one is interested in a accuate gun at a resonable price then the Ultra should certainly be considered.
The H&R Ultra Slug Hunter is a fantastic slug gun. My furthest kill to date with it is 143yds but I have shot out to 200yds with it while practicing. I shoot Winchester Platinum tips (400grn @ 1700fps) and zeroed in at 100yds. I get a 4in drop at 150yds and a 10in drop at 200yds. I can pretty much hold the cross hairs in the boiler room from point blank out to 150yds and get a clean kill.
I still don't know if I'd take a shot at a deer at 200yds because I'd have to hold over a pretty fair amount andI don't like to guess when I'm hunting, but I know the gun is capable.
