Can take and should take are 2 different ball games. Should take probably elk and black bear out to 250 yds give or take with premium bullets. Could take a elephant in the eye, but I'm not gonna try. What do have in mind?

how much bigger game can I go for with the 7mm-08? Will it go out west? Big as elk? I going to guess its to small for moose.

I've always heard that Moose are not as tough as Elk. I'd think that if a 7mm-08 is big enough for an Elk, it should be big enough for a Moose. You'll need a properly constructed bullet and keep your shots under 200 yards.

It will work with elk.The 7-08 is nearly identical to the270 if you shoot high performance ammunition (i.e. - hornady light magnums). Just use good common sense on bullet type and weight.Personally, I would move up to a 30 calibre for elk /moose sized animals; but if the 7-08 is all I had, I would not be afraid to use it.
