Rem. 870 Super slug barrel w/ 2x7 scope - opinions?

Has anyone bought one of these barrels? This is the one with the cantilever mounts, rifled barrel and 2x7 scope.

Should be a nice barrel, I wonder what kind of scope comes with it?

One second thought, you can get a new 870 for about the same price as another barrel.......

There is no branding on it and it doesn't appear to be good quality. I can make do with an average scope or worse if it doesn't move. My concern is whether the overall design will hold the scope steady.

I was shopping for a 870 combo last fall and noticed that Gander Mountain had one with a Bushnell Banner mounted on one from the factory. I am assuming that Remington has a deal going with Bushnell and that is what this scope is. I ended up not getting the scope package but instead got a Nikon Prostaff 2-7x 32mm shotgun scope.I could not be more pleased with the whole package.

Couldn't you just buy the entire gun for that price and get a Quality scope put on after?? I think I only paid $300.00 for my 870!

check out this link. its a barrel and scope combo made by mossberg that fits the 12 ga reminton 870. I have one for my mossberg 500 and I like it alot. And at $150 you would save some money. I think I saw these packages at sportsmans warehouse also incase you have one near you

Acid Test; I got the 870 Express Super Magnum (shots up to 3 1/2" shells) synthetic combo that includes a 28" rifled barrel with cantelever scope mount, and a 28" smooth bore barrel for $430.00 at Gander Mountain. The Nikon Prostaff 2-7x 32mm shotgun scope was $129.00.

Like I said before, I am very pleased with the entire set up. I killed two deer with the rifled barrel last fall, and I have been trap, and sporting clay shooting multiple times using the straight bore barrel. I have already got more than my monies worth out of this package.

I got one of the cantilever barrels earlier in the summer and am very pleased with it. I have the 870EXPRESS and was able to find an EXPRESS barrel at cabelas w/ cantilever for about $189. Awesome deal. It's the 23" barrel w/out scope. I ended up putting a Nikon prostaff 2-7x32 on it as well, just like hunting up north said, and it works great with 3" Remington Copper Solids out past 100 yards. I wouldn't hesitate getting one. The higher velocity slugs (SST's, Remington Corelokt and Brenneke super sabots) didn't perform nearly as well. Check out cabelas. It was ordered on aMonday or Tuesday and got here Friday morning before they said it should be here. Now I just gotta get out there and get my first deer with it. I'll feel very confidentwith it out in the woods.
