Default 22 lr. Savage Mark II Classic vs. Browning T-Bolt

I"™m considering getting a 22 lr. in a bolt action and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Browning T-Bolt Target/Varmint or the Savage Mark II Classic. I have handled the Savage Mark II Classic and found it handled very well. The finish of this rifle was excellent and I found the action was well made. I haven"™t had the opportunity of handling the T-bolt and was wondering how well the straight pull action works. The Browning is around $100 more then the Savage. Would anyone have any input on either one of these rifles???

I have one of the original T-Bolts, not a new one.
The guys over on rimfirecentral seem to have good words for the new T-bolt.

I've got a Savage MkII BV that I'm positively THRILLED with. Wonderfully accurate, great fit/finish, and mimics my hunting rifle well enough for me to burn 250 to 300 rounds of .22lr offhand per 20 rounds of .30-'06 I shoot at the range. It's sporting a Nikon 4x32 Rimfire scope, with which I'm equally happy. I can't think of many other purchases I've ever made, and certainly not in things gun-related, that I'm so happy with.

So, yeah... I like it OK.

We have an older browing tbolt in the family and it is quite accurate. I like what i see of the savages. On the forums, I have found the savages can vary in accuracy and it is reportedly due to their mass production chambering. Gets a little loosey-goosey sometimes and affects accuracy. For the money though, I really like current savages; the accu-trigger is great.

cma , This rifle would be used for target & varmints. I did do a search on the Schultz & Larsen and couldn"™t find anything on line at any of the sporting good stores in a 22 lr. on this side of the border.

As for Savage ,I did have a Savage in a 17 HMR and was not impressed with it"™s accuracy but that Savage classic does have quite an improvement in quality as for accuracy ??

Thanks guys

Trailer-before you buy either, look at both and see which 1 is best in quality and fit. The T-bolt is straight pull. I had a older 1 and it shot equal to my kimber!

I"™ll have a look at the T-bolt tomorrow. Just called and they just happen to have a couple in stock. May not be the varmint model but the it's a T-bolt so the action should be the same. Thanks SB...
