RE: .17 fireball
I've had one ordered in 700 SPS varmint since last winter, and am finally going to get it. I expect it will be here next week sometime, and I'm really anxious to get started with it. Now I've gotta get all the reloading components rounded up which will be fun also. I'm very interested in how it's going to shoot for me.
I'll bet there are others on here who have been tinkering with the 17 Fireball already, and can give some experiences.

Don't have a 17 but I do have a 221 Fireball. By gosh it is try what they say about those XP-100's. Mine will definately outshoot most factory bolt rifles at 100yds. I know from experience that the 221 works just awesome on turkeys, provided it's legal to use centerfire where you hunt. I use my little XP-100 for slipping down the edge of the tree row and wheat feild while fall turkey huntin'. The 17 will probably do about the same, although I'm not sure if it is legal for turkeys round here. Should still work great on critters up to the size of coyote, maybe bigger with carefull shot placement.
