Today, I was at a local gunshop and I saw something that really jumped out at me. It was a Savage 116 in 25-06, it had a medium heavy barrel that was stainless fluted. It had the large bolt knob, and a grayish synthetic stock on it. I've never seen or heard of one like this before? Is this something new? I really rreally really wanted to bring it home......Price tag was $579. Any info would be appreciated on this firearm.
I was on Savage's website last night, and I remember the 116 catching my eye also, I'm not for sure but it may be kinda new. Another gun that I have fell in love with that is new for 2007 is the Ruger m77 Hawkeye, that is a sweet looking rifle. One thing that we can thank Savage for other than their fine shooting rifles is that since their introduction of the accutrigger the other makers are following suit. That new Ruger Hawkeye has a better trigger that is adjustable, and I also noticed Remington has come out with an adjustable trigger for some of their bolt guns.
What I was wanting to know is when did they put a semi-heavy harrel on it #2 Contour I believe, and flute it? If this is a limited thing i need to call the gunshop an buy it! LOL
I don't think you will go wrong with the Savage. Even though they are relatively inexpensive they are very accurate and reliable tools that will last a lifetime. (sorry but I have a preferance for Savage Arms...I guess it shows).
Was at the gun shop the other day and they had 3 like that,I didn't look at the model number.one was 7mag,300wsm and 270 wsm.
They sure looked good.Didn't look at the price either but will check them out the next time I go.
Well, I called up the gunshop today and talked to the owner. He picked them up in Reno, and he has them in 243 and 25-06. They are a special run that was made for a distributor. I will have one when in 243 the next time I make it to town, I put one on hold.
