25-06 Shooters? *UPDATED*

Have any of you had any luck with the 100gr Remington Core-Lokts?? I am out of ammo, dont have my reloading stuff moved into the new place out of storage yet and have to get sighted in for antelope.Anyexperience with this load?Any recommendations?

One of the reasons I ask about this one is that it is the most commonly stocked load for the 25-06 around here.

They work good for deer, and will definitely do the job on antelope. I've used 120s on mule deer and whitetails, and I have a friend that has used the 100s on mule deer. They'll do the job.

They shoot 1-11/2" out of by gun. Haven't used them on deer, but I have no doubt they would be hot death for them!

I've killed whitetails with them and they did just fine. They shouldfold antelope up like a well hit dove. Not to mention shoot pretty flat which can come in handy out in wide open antelope country.

I use the Remington 100 gr. PSP Core-Lokt's in my .243. Four shots at deer, four deer down. Two went down in their tracks. One walked two steps before his knees buckled. One ran about 35 yards after a double lung shot. I'm pretty sure they'll work just fine in your .25-06.

Thanks for the replies. I hope i can get them to shoot accurately out of my gun, the price is right and they are pretty flat shooting.

Well picked up a box for testing....made it to the range for a quick 6 shots right at dusk....shot 2 sets of 3 rounds with about 2 minutes inbetween the sets. results were 2 shots @ 1/2" one about a inch high and left, 2 more with the other 2 tight holes for 4 shotsin 3/4"ish and the other about a inch high and a touch left for a total group of under 1.5" I though these were pretty good for a hasty shoot with 17 dollar a box shells.

That should do just fine. Don't worry at all about the 100gr bullet for deer in that caliber. IMO it is the best all around bullet wt for those that don't reload. I started using themin 1986 and have never used a heavier bullet again. I have NEVER had to shoot more than once at a whitetail with them. They Shoot/They Score...Done Deal.

HOWEVER....If you ever have a chance to try the 90gr Winchester PSP's do it !!!!
They shoot great in most factory guns and will do the job on a deer/antelope as well as varmints. I am not a fan of Remington ammo these days. But that is just me. But once I did a comparison of these two loads, I found some alarming variations. First the 100gr Rems were visually rough on the outside of the bullet. I couldn't believe it. Then, pulling the bullets and weighing them, as well as the powder I found some pretty significant variations.

No more Remington for me....unless that is all that is available for me to burn up for brass. I shoot reloads other than getting a scope on paper with odds and ends I have on hand.

IF you liked the job the 117s did....just wait till you see a dramatic high shoulder hit from a 100gr or better yet 90...... instant deflation.

I loaded 100gr Hornady's in my son's 25-06 for a couple of years and found the meat desrtuction too excessive and bullets fragmenting.Have since switched to Nosler Partitions 115gr and Hornady 120gr HP and never looked back.Works tickety boo on black bears as well.Harold
