T/C encore 308 PISTOL ?????????

Ihave been think about a new pistol barrel to hunt with.I was thinking about a 15 inch308or 7mm/08 barrel.Does anyone have any info on eather one of these in a pistol.Was wondering what the recoil might be like and what kind of speeds I might get out of both of these in a 15 inchpistol barrels.

I use the 15inch 7mm-08 and love it. I have not got to shoot a deer with it, but did shoot a coyote at about 100 yds. My cousin helps me with all of my ammo and figuring speeds, etc. He said that I was getting close to 2700 fps, with some hand loads he did for me. I recently read an article saying that the 7mm-08 was one of the top deer rounds. I think the .308 was one of the others, so you can't go wrong with either.

As far as recoil, it's not bad at all. I can shoot quite a bit before I get tired.

personnel experience says you would be happier with a rimed case
cartage.
as fare as recoil gos,your are going to know when it gos off ,be ready for it.
rubber grips are a must for most big calibers.
if i were looking for some thing new it would be a 307 necked down to 7mm, this has all ready been done i just dont know what is called.

I have a 7mm-08 and it's fun to shoot! Recoil..if that's a big worry,I would get a rimfire...

Recoil isn"t that big of a worry.My dad has a 35 remington barrel on his contender.I was wondering if It would be about the same recoil.And alsohow is the 7/08at distances out of a 15inch barrel.I would be shooting no farther than say 200 yards.Also thank all of you for your help.I am kinda new to pistol hunting

yes to the recoil question.
if you want to find out what recoil is step up to a
375 JDJ or a 444 marlin the recoil is on the severe side, soft rubber grips are a must. most people that i have let shoot it hand it back after the first shot. there wimps, i shoot itfrom tree stands.
at 200 yd the 7-08 should just be getting warmed up ,i shoot a 7-30 waters out to 400yd it will repeatedly take out that plate with amazing accuracy. very good groups as well.

I had the encore in 7mmbr,7mm-08 and the big on was the 35 Whelen. All 15" barrels. Now with that being said the 35 Whelen had the most recoil. I was shooting a Hornady 250gr. round nose pushing 2100fps. out of that 15" barrel. Was not fun to shoot alot. The 7mmbr and 7mm-08 was a pleasure to shoot.

I have pretty much decided on a 7mm-08.Does anyboday have any info on scopes.I have a red dot on my 12 inch 454 casuall barrel and really like it.But are they reliable with heavy recoil and how are they at longer ranges

On mine I had a Leupold Straight 2x power and it was good enough hunting . I have a Millet red dot on my Ruger Super Redhawk 44mag. It has the 3moa dot. It is good at 100yds. It all depends on how far are you going to shoot at game. If it is only 100yds. the red dot would be fine. I was shooting a 3" steel gong at 200 meters with the 7mm-08 and 2x scope and hitting it 98% of the time.
