I do know that Cabela's has had them for a while now, have handled the regular, african and alsakan models. I wish the alaskan had a better stock on it.

I think many gun store have them in stock. In my area (ND), all The Scheels stores have them as well as the Gander Mountain stores. I looked at a new 270 at Scheels. The new trigger is a VAST VAST improvement.

I should be picking up my 30-06 tomorrow. I'll try to post a range report.

I don't like the cheap matte finish Ruger is putting on the Hawkeyes. I much prefer the deep, rich, gloss finish they used to put on their blued rifles prior to the Hawkeyes.

I really like Ruger rifles and have owned more of them than any other, but from now on, I have to buy the stainless/synthetic...I hate their new cheap matte finish.

Whatever happened to quality? There are too many companies cutting corners, lowering quality and yet, still raising prices!!!!!

To me, a rifle is a work of art.Ruger (and others) need to get back to using oil paint-notcrayons! [:@]
