Default Winchester Model 70 manufactured 1971

I was told that post 64 Winchesters were made until 1970 and then they changed styles again? What did they do different? Mine has a G before the serial #.

Default RE: Winchester Model 70 manufactured 1971

All winchesters made after 1964 are "post 64" winchesters!!!

The model 70 has been given back it's famous claw extractor in (guessing) the last seven years...... but it's still not a "pre 64"

Actually, in my opinion all the model 70 rifles since 1964 are fine guns.....and I believe them to be a safer gun than the so called "pre-64" at least in the matter of excessive loads blowing up guns.
