Default 223 lefty

hey folks. it's been several months since i've been on here and it's great to be back. anyway i am looking at getting a 223 rem to add to the gun cabinet. i have been looking at savages and they are great rifles. i had a 111 in .270 win but sold it. unfortunetly i am a southpaw when it comes to shooting and so that limits my options when getting rifles. i am looking at the savage weather warrior stainless steel rifle. my only concern is the synthetic stock. i have heard that they can be pretty flimsy. what would you recommend? thanks.

The old synthetic stocks were pretty dag gone flimsy. The new synthetic stocks are betterthan the old ones, but not like H-S, McMillan, etc., thatmost seem to think of when you mention synthetic stocks, for some reason. I have had several Savage and Remingtons thru the shop in the past couple months or so, and the Savage stocks are just as good as the synthetic Remington M700 ADL stock, in fact they look and feelvery much similar.

I own 2 Savages with synthetic stocks. One is a "Weather Warrior". Both stocks seem to be very strong. Go with the Savage and don't look back.

As a former Savage owner you know that you will not be dissapointed with a new one. Though I prefer the wood stock I do have a newer Savage with a synthetic. It has performed well for me and I do not regret the money spent.
