Mauser scope base
I traded for a 25-308 wildcat on a mauser action today and was wandering if you could advise me on what scope bases I would need. There are a lot of choices on bases (98, 96, FN, etc). The action looks to be the Turkish large ring small shank. It is marked TC, ASFA, ANKARA, K KALE, 1940, SN31xxx. Sorry if you are purist, I didn’t cut if up and sporterize it and customize it, I just traded for it. It is already drilled and tapped.
Is this considered a mauser 98?
What is an FN?
Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Mauser scope base
Well FN is Fabrique Nationale made in Belgium. If the action is already drilled for bases, I hope they are correct.....There are 2 diffwerent bases for Mausers with the stripper clip hump and those that are commercial varities. Not to worry....a Smith can fix and is not a big deal. There are only two actions....a large ring and a small ring....your's sounds like a large ring....the Turks made both. They make great sporters for 243 to '06 actions.....the 308/284 varients probably preferred. Good luck w/ your project. Regards, Rick.
