Default Barrel Matting

I want to put a matte finish on my rifle barrel. How is matting normally done? Sand/bead blasting? Chemicals? Is there any way I can doit myself, or do I need to pay a ton of money to have a gunsmith do it? Any info would be appreciated.

What about spray paint? It'd be a heck of a lot cheaper than sending it out to be professionally done. If you didn't want to do that, I'd probably go the bead blasting route. That'll knock the shine off of it. It'll be more of a satin finish.

Call up www.aquilafirearms.com He did my Ruger with KG GunKote and it is really awesome. He also does DuraCoat.
